In the current study , the researchers recruited 12 healthy male athletes who consumed 500 milliliters of mineral water with 0.05 milliliters of peppermint essential every day for ten days. In each individual, the team measured blood pressure , heart rate and the air flow before and after supplementation . The athletes performed treadmill exercise tests ( walking belt ) during the course of the study.

The results suggested that the essential oil of peppermint in induced significant changes airflow , power and time to exhaustion .

The authors concluded that the study seems to support the effectiveness of peppermint essential oil on the athletic performance of young male athletes . However, more research to better understand and confirm these findings is needed.

Among the many herbs and supplements to enhance exercise studied are creatine and caffeine , which are backed by strong scientific evidence for this purpose.
