Chinese Medicine Combat Chronic Pain

Chinese Medicine Combat Chronic Pain Chinese Medicine Combat Chronic PainChinese Medicine Combat Chronic Pain – In traditional Chinese medicine plants have been used for centuries to cure all kinds of ailments and their secrets start to be confirmed by Western science. Such is the case of the roots of the plant Corydalis flowers whose properties to relieve chronic pain were checked by a study from the University of California, Irvine, in the United States.

According to research published in the journal Current Biology one of the components of the plant known as dehydrocorybulbine ( DHCB ) proved effective in animal tests against all three types of pain that afflict humans, acute , inflammatory and neuropathic beings or chronic pain.

“Our study reveals the discovery of a new natural product that can ease the pain ,” said Dr. Olivier Civelli one of the authors of the research in a report released on the website of the school . Civelli Xinmiao with Dr. Liang made ??the discovery within the ” Herbalome ” project , an effort to catalog all the chemical components of traditional Chinese medicine.

The researchers looked Corydalis compounds that could act in a manner similar to morphine ( narcotic drug family of opiates that changes the way the brain and nervous system respond to pain ) way . “We found the DHCB but quickly found that does not act through receptor morphine but through other receptors , particularly one that binds to dopamine ,” explained Civelli .

We have good analgesic for acute pain , such as codeine or morphine , there are drugs for inflammatory pain , such as aspirin or paracetamol. But we have good drugs for chronic pain . The DHCB may not be able to relieve severe chronic pain, but can be used for low-level chronic pain , stressed Civelli .

The finding could represent the discovery of a new non-addictive analgesic for chronic pain .

Chinese herbal medicine

The prestigious site Natural Standard ( international company research alternative medicine) notes that this is perhaps the oldest form of medicine based on Chinese medical principles. It is based on the energetic qualities of the chemical properties in the herbs as understood in Western pharmacology . There are more than 2,000 different kinds of herbs ( of which about 400 are commonly used ) .
